To help treat a venous ulcer, the high pressure in the leg veins needs to be relieved. Wear compression stockings or bandages every day as instructed. They help prevent blood from pooling, reduce swelling, help with healing, and reduce pain. Put your feet above your heart as often as possible

Dermatology. Venous ulcers are wounds that are thought to occur due to improper functioning of venous valves, usually of the legs (hence leg ulcers). They are the major occurrence of chronic wounds, occurring in 70% to 90% of leg ulcer cases.

Leaving a wound uncovered may dry out new surface cells, which can increase pain or slow the healing process. Most wound treatments or coverings promote a moist — but not overly wet — wound surface. For example, we apply a topical antibiotic ointment to a scrape or small cut, and then cover it with gauze or a bandage
